Federal Dance Project

Federal Dance Project
The Federal Dance Project was one of the projects funded under Federal One to provide employment for out-of-work dancers. It established three dance units in 1936 to employ 185 dancers. Despite its many internal and external difficulties, the project did bring dance performance to a wider public and also provided dance lessons for many people. Charges of left-wing sympathies led to the end of the project in 1940.
