Dumbarton Oaks is a residence in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., that was the location of the meeting between representatives of the United States, Great Britain, China, and the Soviet Union between 21 August and 7 October 1944 that established the principles on which to create a United Nations (UN) organization. It led to the calling of a further conference of all Allied nations at the San Francisco Conference in April 1946 to establish the UN.
